The White God

Concept art of one of my characters. He is actually one of the most important guys out there, but since he hardly has any screentime, I don't know him so well. I decided to draw him to get to know him better, but this drawing was finished so quickly (an hour or two) that I didn't come up with many new things. He doesn't even have a name besides this title. He's actually a scholar, the only kind of people who will wear these Gandalf robes. The fabric is light and thin, and results in epic flapping when you walk around in them. The white colour stands for honesty and integrity, and it's almost a sin to get stains on them. I think they evolved from lab coats: they are white because you'll see stains (and therefore contamination) on them easier - and you can bleach them without affecting the colour, apparently. I guess my world has their own version of lab coats.

Luckily, scholars are only supposed to wear these robes in public when they are in the role of a scholar, not when they are doing research. Because that would be bloody dangerous...

Like our university robes, the colours on the sleeves indicate the university the scholar is working for.

'But this guy doesn't have coloured sleeves!' you might think.

Well spotted, young padawan. This guy doesn't have an allegiance. He used to study harpies at some university (I haven't decided yet which one). Harpies are ridiculous: only women can be harpies, and they can get offspring with a whole range of races. This fellow tried to figure out why that is, and came to the conclusion that it had a magical cause - but it couldn't be explained by the current knowledge of sorcery. He needed funding to research the idea there might be a more powerful magic out there who could do stuff like that, but no university gave that to him; his ideas were too radical. So he abandoned them all and searched for this magic all by himself.

I drew him beardless at first, but that made him look like a monk so I dropped that idea. He is supposed to have some sort of divine look (hence his nickname), but his background as a scholar should shine through as well. 

Now I want to draw my other scholar characters as well. They all have a habit of being older adult males, and I want them to be different.
