Hi there! I recently gained 250 watchers and I am very happy with that :D (Big Grin)  I wish I had more time to check out your art and talk with you, because you are awesome people! Anyway, time for a celebration! I want to do that with this contest ;) (Wink) This is my first contest, so I hope you will enjoy it!

Theme
I have made 4 eggs, one for each element (fire, air, earth and water). You must pick one of them and draw the creature that will hatch from it. You don't have to draw the hatching itself; your creature can have any age. It can be a dragon, a griffin, phoenix, unicorn (lol, unicorns hatching from eggs XD) or a creature you made up yourself! Use your imagination!
I also want to learn something about your creature; what is its name, where does it live, what's its personality, etc. You can make a reference sheet if you want to, but you can also make a normal drawing and place the details about your creature in the description when you upload it. I came up with some details about the eggs, which might help you with creating your own monster. On the other hand; feel free to ignore them if you have an awesome idea yourself!

Eggs (hatching contest) by queenofeagles

1. The fire opal egg (fire); these eggs can be found in volcanically active areas, where the ground keeps them warm. These eggs look like opals and are easily mistaken by them; this sometimes results in spontaneously hatching jewelry (love to see that!).
2. The dandelion egg (wind); these eggs have some sort of umbrella-like structure attached to their shell. This makes it easy for them to be blown away by the wind and travel to unknown territory. They are blown away when they are about to hatch; the shell cracks open when the egg hits the ground.
3. The leafball egg (earth); well, the actual egg is not visible, because the parents fold leaves over it. The shell is sticky, which helps in this process. The added leaves keep the egg warm and camouflage it. The leaves open like a flower when the egg hatches.
4.  The omelette (water); ok, it is not an omelette, but I think it looks like it. This egg does not have a shell and must stay in the water. It is hardly visible there, because the egg looks so watery. Only the dark spot in the middle reveals that there is something growing in there.

Judges
Me and Wiliart. Please don't bribe us, it might work Wink/Razz

Rules
- I host this contest to honor my watchers, therefore you must be a watcher of me. In case you are not; don't be afraid, I don't bite... hard ;) (Wink)
- leave a comment if you want to participate and include which one of the eggs you want to use. I want to know how many people want to participate and if some of the eggs are more popular than others.
- one entry per contestant. However, you can submit up to three if you feature this journal! And you'll get a hug from me if you do that ;) (Wink)
- I want to know more about your creature, so add details about your creature in the description or artwork itself (like name, size, habitat, diet, behavior, etc.).
- please add a link to this contest in your description of your artwork.
-  leave a comment here or note me with a link to your artwork when you are finished. Otherwise I might not see it :( (Sad)
any type of art is accepted! A small remark if you go for literature; I'd like to see a description of your creature, but also a story or a poem about your creature.
- You keep ownership of your creature design, but the eggs are owned by me and, after the contest, by the three winners.

Things I appreciate
- IMAGINATION! Don't say 'I can't draw, so I can't win', I'll look for creative minds ;) (Wink)
- Imagination does have its limits though. Your creature must have something to do with its egg. It doesn't make sense if you make some sort of sea serpent that hatches from the leafball (earth) egg, does it?
- Same goes for your creature's body, that should make sense as well. For example: if you make a flying beastie, give it large wings!
- I have a very weak spot for pretty, harmonious color schemes. Things like neon colors tend to scream for attention, so be careful if you use them.

Want to donate a prize?
Of course you can! That would be so awesome Hug

UPDATE: You can start drawing! I think that there are enough people who want to participate!
The first 5 repliants will get points; you will get them after you have submitted your entry.

UPDATE: Egg popularity
I just want to keep track on how often each egg gets chosen by the contestants, just out of curiosity. Maybe this is helpful for contestants as well; your artwork might stand out a bit more when you use a not very popular egg. The differences are still small at the moment, because this contest just started:

1. fire opal egg (fire): chosen 1 time
2. dandelion egg (wind): 3 times
3. leafball egg (earth): 3-4 times
4. omelette (water): 1-2 times

good luck and happy hatching!
