There is not that much information on the ref sheet, so here is more:

'Gallus' comes from the genus gallus, which includes various species of birds, including ordinary chickens. Something similar goes for its common name: drag-HEN . Yes, I named a dragon after chickens, my soul will burn for that, hehe.

The second biggest mystery about the draghen: is it a real dragon?

Draghens were a topic of discussion for a long time; is this creature part of the bird or dragon family? Recent studies, which including magic tracing of the DNA of various bird and dragon species (including the Gallus), has shown that it is indeed a dragon, despite its birdlike features. It is, however, probably a close relative of the missing link between birds and dragons. We all know that dragons evolved from dinosaurs after magic came into the world, at least 400 million years ago. Birds evolved from dinosaurs approximately 150 million years ago, and there are various clues that magical birds evolved from dragons.

Some more information...

Draghens have birdlike features, which makes them easily distinguishable from other dragon breeds. They have a beak instead of teeth and they also lack the long tail that most dragons seem to have. These dragons are covered with bright orange and red feathers on various places on their bodies. These feathers are only for decoration; both males and females use them to attract the opposite sex. These dragons are therefore very proud and vain; always trying to be as pretty as possible.  The result of this is that only the most beautiful and healthy dragons produce offspring. However, they often end up fighting each other over a mate if their 'beauty contest' doesn't work out, which involves spitting acid at each other. This acid is pretty harmless, except that it has the nasty habit of creating stains (and it turns the inside of their mouths green). This will turn the pretty feathers into green-brown ugliness and makes finding a partner very difficult. Draghens don't even like small stains of mud, so this is probably their idea of hell

They live in the wild in thunders (a group of dragons) consisting of approximately 8 members, lead by one dominant (read: the prettiest) male or female. The rest of the thunder consists of adults of the opposite sex than the leader (who are only there to mate with him/her), some youngsters and a few other family members. Most of the young ones will be kicked out of the thunder when they become adults and will live on their own, until they are strong enough (read: pretty enough) to take over a thunder of form one for themselves. Draghens live a more solitary life when they live among humans. Taking care of a dragon is expensive, so owners usually keep only one dragon. Humans like to keep them for their feathers, which are used in luxurious clothing and accessories. Besides, they like to show off with them. Draghens are one of the easiest trainable breeds; working with humans is gives them an easy source of food and a comfortable living. Why do they want that, despite that it is an easy way of life? Well, living in the wild results in walking through mud and humus, which means getting dirty, which means getting ugly! And it means you have to hunt, which often involves blood going everywhere, which is even dirtier! Ahh, the pure ugliness of the idea! XD

The first biggest mystery about the draghen is how it is possible that something with such beautiful feathers has such an ugly face XD
